Piano Movers in Boise, Idaho

With a piano the weight is not the hard part. It is that the weight sits high and concentrated, and that it punishes one bad step more than a whole day of good ones.

Everything gets wrapped before it moves. A grand comes apart first — the legs and the pedal lyre come off, the case goes onto a padded board on its side, and it stays strapped there until it is in the new room and back on its feet. An upright stays upright, wrapped the same way and strapped to the board so nothing can shift on the dolly. Neither one travels on its own castors: those were made to hold a piano still, not to carry it across a driveway.

Right now we take piano jobs that stay on the level at both ends — no flights of stairs. It is a limit we would rather say on the phone than discover in a stairwell with your piano halfway up it. Everything else is normal work: across town, across the state, and into the room you actually want it in.

Questions we get about piano moves

Do you move grand pianos?

Yes. A grand travels on its side on a padded board, with the legs and the pedal lyre removed first and refitted at the other end. An upright stays upright, wrapped and strapped to the board the same way.

Can you take a piano up or down stairs?

Not at the moment. We are only booking piano jobs that stay on the level at both ends. If yours has to change floors, say so when you call and we will tell you straight rather than find out on the day.

Will it need tuning after the move?

Almost certainly, but not right away. Let it sit two to four weeks in the new room so it settles to the humidity and the temperature there, then book a tuner. Tuning it the day it arrives usually means paying for it twice.
